There's an unusual astronomical event happening on February 28: a six-planet "parade" when Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn and Jupiter will all appear in alignment from our POV here on Earth. Per NASA, it's a rare chance for viewers to observe multiple planets at the same time without the need for a telescope.

If you’re curious about this happening, and how it will impact your sign, then good news. We're here to answer curious star-gazers' questions about it all. Keep on scrolling!

What is a six-planet parade?

To put it simply, a six-planet parade is when six planets appear to be lined up in a row from our POV here on earth, like a "parade." While two or three planets in alignment is common, six or more is comparatively rare.

How can I see the six-planet parade?

The six-planet parade will occur on February 28. If you'd like to see them, first know that only some of the planets will be visible to the naked eye. According to Space.com, the planets will be most visible between half an hour to one hour after sunset. You'll need an unobstructed view west with cloudless skies. If you have a telescope or even a pair of binoculars, they can help. Saturn and Jupiter should be visible to the naked eye, while Mercury, Venus, Uranus, and Neptune will require binoculars or a telescope.

Why is the six-planet parade significant, astrologically?

While the six planets will appear to line up from our POV here on earth, they are not in alignment in the zodiac. On February 28, Mercury (which is currently retrograde) and Venus will be in Pisces; Neptune and Saturn will be in Aries; and Uranus will be in Taurus. This means that astrologically, the planetary events of February 28 are not as rare as they are astronomically. However, it's worth noting that Mercury and Venus will both be in Pisces, while Neptune and Saturn will both be in Aries. Whenever two or more planets are in the same sign, they work together to amplify the effects of that sign.
